Ready for Halloween?

I'm not sure if I'm gonna wear any costume but I will enjoy the Halloween for sure♡ To enjoy the Halloween season, I made a Halloween lunch boxes with Pikachu and Hallo Kitty =) These are one of the best lunch box I've ever made…!

At first, I was gonna make only Hello Kitty… then looked so lonely ='(   ...and Halloween is an event to enjoy with friends…

So I made a Pikachu as her friend! The lunch box was filled with full of joy☆ Cute Cute =)

Let it go♪Let it go♪

I tried to make Elsa from Frozen but couldn't make it as I was imagine… =( Not so bad but not perfect Elsa… I will try again one day♡

I wanna recommend you this Smiles from McCain today. This smiley potato is saving my lunch box life =) Fast to cook and tasty even when it gets cold!! Perfect for lunch box!

Make your self

Good Buy!

I love to explore many different super market in Vancouver to seek new products! Often I buy and try new products (mostly non-Japanese/ non-Canaidian ingredients) to invent cheap and healthy meal♡ Today I would like to recommend you this Chinese wide noodle from T&T and give you some ideas of cooking this noodle =)

This wide and thick noodle is just like pappardelle pasta but made without eggs. After cooking the noodle with hot water, the surface become very smooth just like udon noodle. This noodle is very strong too so it taste good even when the noodle is over cooked in soup.

I made "Hoto" noodle which is a regional dish from my city Kawaguchiko in Japan. Noodle that we use for Hoto is very similar to the Chinese wide noodle. Hoto is very simple to make and a perfect dish for winter. In a fish dashi stock (you can used dashi stock powder to make), add lots of roots veggie, mushrooms, pumpkin, and chopped pork and stew for 30 min. When the pumpkin starts to melt into the soup, add miso + mirin and cooked noodle. Stew again for 10-15 min and ready to serve =)

If you have a chance, I want you to try Real Hoto from my city♡ I knew the Hoto noodle is becoming popular among sightseeing people from all over the world but…what a surprise!! T&T has started to import Hoto noodle package!! It includes 2 sets of frozen Hoto noodle and concentrated soup inside and selling for $4.29 +tax. If you make Hoto with the wide noodle that I introduced, the total cost will be almost a half of the price and taste better plus healthier!

After enjoying Hoto noodle, I still had 1/3 of Chinese wide noodle so I made a Mentaiko Carbonara with the wide noodle instead of using Pappardelle. It taste like fresh pappardelle carbonara but with low cost and low calories♡ It become one of my favourite Fusion Dish =)

Happy Thanksgiving =)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone♡Canadian Thanksgiving day was yesterday and I had a long weekend so I enjoyed cooking a turkey dish and relaxed at home. I did cook turkey but not the "Turkey" people imagine! I cooked a piece of turkey breast from urban fare for my lonely dinner =( My brother caught a cold so he couldn't join me this year… hopefully I can cook a whole turkey for my family one day =)

On sunday, I was hanging out with Mark again and we went to cookworks to look for a mini dutch oven. Mark and I have been interested in this dutch oven brand called "Staub"and I decided to purchase this black oval mini staub for my Thanksgiving meal♡ I can serve gratin, soup, baked desserts and anything hot/ warm! =)

This is their collection of mini staubs!! Too cute and adorable mini dutch oven… took so long to pick a colour and a shape... I am a Le Creuset lover♡ but I'm kinda cheating with Staub these days =P Staub is heavier and stronger compare to Le Creuset. According to a Japanese chef's blog, the Staub's lid is heavier so more pressure inside the pod and prevent pot from leaking out the steam.

Surprise!! Mark got me a Le Creuset Cocotte Japonaise as my birthday gift!! My birthday is on August 9th but some how he gets me my gift in the Fall season lol I'm kinda picky girl so he is having hard time picking my birthday gift every year! But I always Love his gift because it is very thoughtful♪ I'm really happy that I have a best friend who can understand and accept my picky-ness =)

ENJOY FALL♡

Mini-Trip

Today I'm gonna write about the short-trip? or mini- trip? to Granville Island! Mark (my bestie) and I had an awesome sunday last last week. First, we enjoyed fusion sushi lunch and the beautiful view at Miku restaurant in Coal Harbour. talk talk talk… not stop talking about food and sake as we always do =)

I enjoyed sparkling sake and mark had a glass of beer to start. Our appetizer was the tempura fish and chips!! but not just a typical fish and chips dish. "Fish" part was black cod tempura style, "Chips" part was healthy lotus roots chips, and the sauce is home made tartar sauce and flavour-fll Ponzu.

We both ordered Kaisen Lunch "Premium" which comes with 2 pairs of popular Aburi Sushi, 1 pair of Special Roles, and 6 kinds of Nigiri Sushi. My favourite one was the Salmon Aburi Sushi and the Scallop Nigiri and Mark really liked the Simple Nigiris =)

After the lunch, we were soooooo full and our stomachs were about to explode!! So we changed our plan and we decided to walk down to the yaletown aqua bus station instead of taking bus. Great way to enjoy the fall weather and getting some exercise!!

We were so excited to take the aquabus to Granville Island and we felt like we are visiting and sightseeing another city =)  It is only $2.50 to the Granville Island and $5 for round trip. Its the same price as taking public transit so I would recommend you to take the aquabus! This is faster, better view, and more fun♡

We couldn't stop checking out the beautiful fresh ingredients in the market.  I really wanted to get the huge salmon roe but I didn't. I was busy at work last week and I knew I didn't have time to process this salmon roe nicely so… NEXT TIME =)

I found a cute designed chocolate! I really like chocolate with no chemical added =) Maybe I should send this chocolate package to my mom in the Christmas season♡

This is Mark and my favourite store in the Granville Island called "Oyama Sausage. Co". Oyama is sound like Japanese last name =) I found a huge smoked beef tongue!! I got 100g for my self and 100g for my brother. I wish my daddy is here because he loves meat and cheese with red wine so♡

I enjoyed smoked beef tongue with  red wine at night.  It tastes like smoked fatty beef and melts like beef tongue stew…mmm hard to explain. My brother enjoyed the first half with beer and next half as an bagel sandwich. He really liked it too =)

Must Buy at Oyama is "THE DUCK Prosciutto"♡ Mark and I love this duck with red wine… aweee.. already missing the duck prosciutto. This prosciutto tastes more wild like lean meat and that is why it is perfect with red wine. I really like to top a bit of sanshou spice on this duck and this spice kills the wild stinky-ness from duck.

The sky was clear on our way back and my heart was perfectly cleansed after nice food, beautiful weather, and awesome time with mark =)

Spend an awesome Sunday

and get ready for stressful Monday =)
